The latest BitFenix small form factor chassis, Phenom Mini-ITX combines an elegantly modern outlook with an incredibly flexible internal structure for a cube design like no other. The unit on our test bench is the Phenom Micro-ATX: It can hold mATX motherboards, but lacks 3. BitFenix have had something of a winning streak when it comes to small form factor chassis, we loved their Prodigy chassis when we reviewed it last year, but I don’t think anyone expected it to.

Se hela listan på overclockers. The exterior of this Phenom sample is mostly white with black accents. The front and top of the case has the SofTouch finish, giving it a slightly rubberized feel.

The side panels do not have the SofTouch finish and are the typical white painted panels.

I was concerned that these two different finishes may cause the colors not to match, but both finishes are the same shade of white. The front is bare except for the black BitFenix logo towards the bottom. The top has a black, 2x 1mm fan grill which is removable by sliding the lock to the right and lifting it out.

Unfortunately, a standard mm thick fan does not fit in the space between the filter and the fan mounting. This means there will always be ~mm of wasted space at the top of the case. If the top panel would have been made ~mm taller or so, then fans would have fit perfectly up there and made efficient use of the available space.

The internals may look familiar to those acquainted with the BitFenix Prodigy. There are technically three hard drive cages: a double 3. Phenom since there isn’t external access to the bay for something like a optical disk drive. I guess a single 5. All of the drive cages can be removed from the case if you so desire, as shown below. With all of the cages remove there is still room for up to five 2. With the drive cages remove we can see the opposite side panel that sports a unique “cage” for a couple 2. We can also see that there is a 2. I’m using is a Seasonic X7PSU, which is 1mm in length. The overall length of the Phenom’s PSU cage is 1mm, so that gives me ~mm to work with.

Now, the connectors on the end of the PSU cables stick out mm from the PSU, and that leaves ~mm for wire bending to avoid hitting the front of the PSU cage.

I had a very hard time installing this PSU into the Phenom. It took three tries, and I almost gave up after the second attempt. To finally get the PSU to fit, I had to use needle nose pliers to bend my PSU wires 90° at the connectors, turn the Phenom so the the rear was facing up, push the PSU in and hold it in place with my knee and body weight, then secure it with thumbscrews. So with the Phenom and other BitFenix ITX cases, the consumer needs to be wary of possible PSU compatibility issues.

However, BtFenix has said that they are in the process of chang. The white theme with black accents gives a nice contrast and is pleasing to eye, in my opinion. It’s also available in an entirely black version for those not fond of white cases. The extra space provides as many, if not more, hard drive mounts as an ITX board has SATA ports.

It’s definitely not the smallest ITX case out there, but it’s not looking to fit that role. The space could also be used for custom water cooling loop components. Even without the drive cages, between three and five 2. The only major downside to this iteration of the Phenom is the closed PSU cage that limits PSU compatibility. My 1mm fully modular SeaSonic X7was a very tight fit, but I did eventually get it in there.

However, this downside is currently being addressed by BitFenix, so. Now, another BitFenix chassis made it to the front of my camera, I present to you the BitFenix Phenom -M, the M-ATX version. A big thanks to Inter-Asia Technology and BitFenix for supplying the chassis for review. Now, the BitFenix Phenom -M is nothing new out of the market, but we have a little surprise in store for our readers nonetheless.

The BitFenix Phenom Mini-ITX belongs to the last category, the biggest of all. Designed for Micro-ATX motherboards, Phenom Micro-ATX delivers superb flexibility with support for dual long graphics cards, tall CPU coolers, and even slim water cooling radiators. The end result of this hard work is the BitFenix Phenom, a mITX case which promises to be everything the Prodigy is but better. To do this BiFenix’s engineers have totally redesigned the prodigy case and everything from the side panels to the front panel has been changed to make the case look as good as it performs. Bitfenix Phenom mATX case review Bitfenix are known for building great small form factor cases, with the Prodigy being a well regarded case for its size, price and cooling options and the Phenom is no different.

The Phenom comes in two form factors, mATX and the mITX, the latter we have for review today. They currently offer large and small form factor chassis, power supply units, gaming headsets and a number of other modding accessories. BitFenix are a growing company on the modders and custom build scene. If you haven’t heard of the brand BitFenix already, you must have been out of the I. As the last of the BitFenix cases filters through, we get to see a much sleeker, and much heavier Mini-ITX design like the Prodigy, in the latest Phenom. T-loop for quite some time.

A maker of quality chassis that contributed to the industry “facelift” with the introduction of the Colossus, BitFenix is quite a big fish in the chassis industry. It features an elegant, no non-sense styling and is fit to be seen even at the most sophisticated living room spaces. Something that I really like about it.

It’s also noteworthy to add that this very case, even with its diminutive stature feels really sturdy.
