Arduino tone example

If a tone is already playing on a different pin, the call to tone () will have no effect. If the tone is playing on the same pin, the call will set its frequency. Use of the tone () function will interfere with PWM output on pins and (on boards other than the Mega). I’ve seen that limit in several examples , including the one at arduino.

In this example , we will play a melody using the passive buzzer. We will use the capability of Arduino to produce the pwm signal through which the buzzer will generate tone at different frequencies. The connections are same as we did for the passive buzzer.

Just upload the code and the buzzer will play a melody. Now, you only want to play the song once, so everything will happen in the setup(). Make a for loop in the setup to iterate over the seven notes. For each time through the loop, use tone () to play the next note in the array. These examples are included mainly to show how to convert between frequency values, note names, and MIDI note values, and to play a simple melody. We want to produce audio tones through a speaker or other transducer. The solution uses the Arduino function.


At the frequency you specify, your Arduino will analogWrite( volume ) to the speaker with a PWM frequency of 62. KHz, for half the duration of a single period of the frequency before pulling it LOW. However, a user asked for a way to create tones without using any timers as he had conflicts with both timer and timer 2. So, I wrote up sample code that evolved into the TimerFreeTone library.
